The European Research project SAFERIDER (www.saferider-eu.org) will be presented at FERSI (Forum of European Road Safety Research Institutes).
The project has just ended and won the third prize among the 400 research projects awarded at the international conference ICT 2010.

The new technologies developed in the project will be presented via static and dynamic demonstrations: a glove and a helmet which transmit information to the driver via vibrations, eCall and an electronic control unit which gathers up information from the vehicle and from the driving environment and transmits them to the driver via devices, filtering them by priority order.

SAFERIDER, in which the HMI (Human - Machine Interaction) Group of the Department  of Sciences and Methods for Engineering of the university of Modena and Reggio Emilia is the Technical Coordinator, aims to study how to create systems able to increase PTW drivers' by informing them about an upcoming danger via vibrations.

At FERSI two othe research projects in which the HMI Group is involved will be presented:
TeleFOT (www.telefot.eu), aiming to assess the impact of mobile and aftermarket devices on driving, via Field Operational Tests involving a lare number of vehicles (i.e. 300 vehicles involved just in Reggio Emilia);
2BESAFE (www.2besafe.eu), which studies the possible causes of accidents involving owered Two Wheeler (PTW) vehicles, in particular from the Ergonomics and behavioral perspective.
